THE AS IT MUST BE PROJECT CHRONICLE
The Chronicle of the Inevitable
As It Must Be is now on Boosty
The project now has an official Boosty page.
There I will share the material that usually remains outside the main website: the process of writing the novel, drafts and early materials, illustrations, details about the characters and the world, as well as updates on the website and Valafar: Collector of Souls game.
Some posts will be available to everyone, while others will be for subscribers. Several monthly support tiers are already available, along with the option to make a one-time contribution.
The page is available in Russian and English, and public posts will be published in both languages.
If you enjoy As It Must Be and would like to follow the project more closely or help it grow, you can now do so through Boosty.
The opening four chapters revised
The major revision of the first four chapters is complete. Pavel carefully reread each chapter, recorded his notes and made the necessary changes. Before moving on to Chapter Five, he read the entire prologue once again and further strengthened the revised text.
The opening four chapters now form a cohesive introductory arc. Jack’s intelligence is shown not only through his words, but through his actions; the characters’ motivations are clearer; and the political, criminal and mystical elements are more tightly intertwined. This version became the basis of the free sample.
Full release expected in 2027
The release of Book One has been moved to 2027. The reason is a systematic, in-depth revision of every chapter in light of the completed draft, rather than a superficial round of proofreading.
So that readers do not have to wait to enter the world of the novel, the first four chapters are being prepared as a free demo that can be read on the website or downloaded. Together they form a complete prologue, introducing the characters, conflicts and rules of the world without revealing the later resolutions.
Book One draft completed
The first complete draft of Book One is finished: thirty-two chapters told from different points of view and connected by a single chain of events. This is an important milestone, but it is not the final version of the text.
A thorough revision has now begun: rereading the manuscript, finding inconsistencies, refining the timeline, and strengthening each character’s individual voice and motivation. With the complete story now in place, the earlier chapters can be revised in light of everything that follows.
The novel will be divided
As It Must Be was originally conceived as a single book of around fifty chapters. But the story kept growing: new points of view emerged, along with political and criminal storylines, the characters’ pasts, and events without which the finale could not unfold as it must.
The project ultimately took shape as one novel told across three separate books, each containing at least thirty chapters. These are not three independent stories, but three parts of one continuous journey. Dividing the novel made it possible to preserve its important storylines without compressing them and to bring Book One to its own powerful conclusion.
